João Alves

João Alves was born in 1964 in the hamlet of Taiobeiras, Valley of Jequitinhonha, Minas Gerais State. This ceramist produces colourful figures and he prefers to depict the everyday life of black people living in the countryside. Attention is called to the sensitivity with which he rebuilds reality, translated by scenes in which men and women appear caught in their everyday routine: caring for their children, family scenes, at work and in the home.
