My Themes

Marliete

Marliete Rodrigues da Silva, daughter of Zé Caboclo, was born in Caruaru in 1957. Her style in folk art is marked by beautiful clay miniatures. She has perfect technical mastery and would reproduce with a wealth of detail the traditional themes of other artists, namely scenes of migrants, home from the fields and harvesting. With her sisters Helena (b.1948), Socorro (b.1955) and Carmelia (b.1956), she is also author of delicate chess sets, where the classical figures are replaced by figures from the arid hinterland of Pernambuco.
